Which program is right for my myself and my child?

Finding the right class can be difficult.  At BTA we have various offerings for all ages and levels.  Adults have 3 basic skill levels to choose from beginner (new to the game), intermediate (you can rally, understanding most grips, can play sets), advanced (play in leagues at or above the 3.5 level).  Juniors have a few more options.  All players ages 4-6 are encouraged to start in the Red Ball program, 7-9 year olds in the Orange Ball program.  Many parents like to push their child to the next group, we believe it is far more important to develop the skills and confidence before moving to the next stage/level.  When players turn 9 or 10 years of age, we look to move them into the regular ball programs, if basic development is still needed we recommend the Rising Players Program, if the player can serve consistently and play points then we recommend the Players on the Rise program.  Between the ages of 12-14 we look to move players into the HS Rec Level (beginner-intermediate) or our Tournament Training Program (intermediate-advanced).  Our Elite program is designed for USTA ranked junior players and HS team players.

FAQs

  1.  Can my child move up in level if they are not the minimum age?  Yes, if your child exhibits the necessary skills we will recommend that your child move up in level.  Our rule is that if you are going to age up, you should not be the weakest player in the higher group, age up because you are stronger than age appropriate players at the next level!
  2. Can you assess my child or myself?  Sure!  We will have you come by during one of our programs and give you an assessment on which program we believe is right for you or your child.

Recommendations:

“Nitin is an outstanding tennis coach.  My son started training with Nitin at Bethesda Country Club and then followed him to Carderock Swim and Tennis Club.  My son is now on the Whitman tennis team and participates in the Elite program at Bethesda Tennis Academy with other high school and USTA players from Whitman, Wootton, Churchill, BCC, WJ, as well as other schools.  My son enjoys Nitin’s clinics and instruction, and my son’s tennis has improved in countless ways over the years, thanks to Nitin.  One of the things that my son (and I) really appreciate about Nitin is the level of personal attention that he gives to each kid in his programs.  None of the other tennis programs in the area give players this type of personal attention.  Plus, my son really likes and respects Nitin, and on top of that, always has a great time.”

-Sheryl Isreal (David Bloch).

“Nitin has improved my son’s game greatly in a relatively short amount of time.  He gives detailed and constructive feedback to my son regarding each aspect of his game.  My son respects Nitin very much, which is crucial to his continued learning; and Nitin’s enthusiasm fo tennis is contagious.  Nitin is also very organized and responsive to all my questions and requests.  I recommend Nitin without reservation!”

-Cynthia Bouchez (Ryan Shea).

“Nitin hs coached our three children – ranging from ages 5-14 for a number of years.  We have found him very good with each of them- they are of course not only different ages, but also very different kids!  He is fun, fair, and tough when he needs to be with the children and very professional with the parents.  Our older daughter’s game has developed very well (made the Whitman team as a Freshman) over the years thanks to Nitin’s hard work and expertise.  I would highly recommend his coaching services to anyone.”

-Allison Ellis (Kate, Sam, and Megan Ellis)

“Nitin is a fabulous tennis instructor for people of all ages.  My children trust and respect him.  He is creative and captures their attention.  He is consistent and has high expectations.  Nitin is also my instructor.  He gives great advice and has helped my game immensely.”

-Liz Bilbao (Quintin and Sadie Bilbao)
